CHILDREN DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION (CHDECO) is a local national NGO with it's headquarters in Tororo District but operates in the whole of Eastern Uganda. CHDECO was founded in 1996 as a CBO in Rubongi Sub County, and registered in 2000 as a local NGO. The organization was started to help mitigate the effects of HIV/AIDS, by supporting Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVCs). Since her inception, CHDECO has reached about thirty thousand people with HIV/AIDS educational awareness messages in the Districts of Tororo, Butaleja, Bukwo and Kapchorwa. CHDECO has since supported about 683 (Six hundred and Eighty Three) OVCs to attain Education and Vocational education skills directly and more than 3,000 (Three thousand) OVCs indirectly. Over 1,463 (One thousand Four hundred and Sixty Three) community members have been sensitized and supported to start income generating activities; including Village Savings and Loan Associations, among others.
